(Manila, Philippines) – The RMN Foundation, Inc., (Foundation), with the help of Refinitiv, an LSEG business, recently launched the Tulong Benepisyo para sa Masaganang Ani livelihood program to help farmers rise up from the challenges they faced during the pandemic in the Philippines. The beneficiaries were selected from Cauayan (Isabela), Naga, Tacloban, and Zamboanga, areas that are agriculturally driven and where the primary sources of income for the majority of residents are rice planting, corn planting, flowering, hog-raising, and poultry.
The Foundation is deeply grateful for the assistance and partnership offered by Refinitiv. The advocacy for sustainable living was carried through by the organization and its employees from the Christmas season in 2020 into the current year. Throughout this period, they took advantage of many opportunities to give back to the community.
The series of typhoons that struck the country late last year brought together the Foundation and other entities to conduct relief efforts in affected communities. Refinitiv was one of those that took part in the Foundation’s Oplan Tabang (Tulong/Help) operations, diverting partial funds from their company activities to provide assistance to impacted farmers and communities and allow the beneficiaries to restart their livelihood.
Launching of the Livelihood Program in target areas
Earlier this year, RMN Foundation simultaneously launched the Tulong Benepisyo para sa Masaganang Ani livelihood program in Tacloban, Leyte and Zamboanga, through the help of DYXY 99.1 FM Tacloban and Paglaum Farmers’ Cooperative, as well as DXRZ 900 AM Zamboanga and Zone-3 Bungiuao Irrigator Association. In Naga City, Bicol, the launch was done in collaboration with DWNX 91.1 i-FM Naga, La Familia Eagles Club, and Pacol Cut Flowers Planters Association. In Cauayan City, Isabela, the livelihood program successfully kicked-off at the RMN Broadcast Center in partnership with DWKD 98.5 i-FM and One Cagayan Valley Agriculture Cooperative.
The highlight of all these events was the awarding of the first tranche of financial support to the farmer beneficiaries. Remilito Dungca of One Cagayan Valley Agriculture Cooperative expressed gratitude to the Foundation and to Refinitiv for providing aid to their members in having a sustainable investment for plant and animal farming.
The success of the livelihood program is contingent not just in the initiative of the Foundation and the generous support of Refinitiv, but more importantly on the dedication and commitment of community partners from each of the target areas – Paglaum Farmers’ Cooperative, Zone-3 Bungiuao Irrigator Association, La Familia Eagles Club, Pacol Cut Flowers Planters Association, One Cagayan Valley Agriculture Cooperative – along with all volunteers who took part in the realization of the initiative.
Should you be interested in taking part for the continuing success of the livelihood program, please send your monetary donations to BPI Bank Account No. 0071-1015-25, UCPB Bank Account No. 201-340-005-360 or reach out to RMN Foundation through our Facebook page, or email us at rmnfoundation@rmn.ph.
