The traces left by Super Typhoon Pepito (Man-yi), a week ago after it hit the province of Aurora, are still visible. In the town of Dipaculao, Aurora which was the second landfall of the typhoon, downed power poles, damaged houses and establishments, and landslides along the way can still be seen.
Although it is passable, it is still not easy to go to the town of Dinalungan, which is also one of those affected by the typhoon. The extent of damage caused by Super Typhoon Pepito on November 10 when it hit the province was evident.
“Sa siyam (9) na barangay ng Dinalungan, karamihan sa aming hanapbuhay ay pagsasaka, pangingisda, at pagniniyogan… lahat ‘yun ay nasira kaya kailangan namin ng ayuda dahil nawalan ng kabuhayan ang mga mamamayan ko rito, pagsasaayos ng bahay, at alternatibong kabuhayan.” (In the nine (9) barangays of Dinalungan, most of our livelihoods are farming, fishing, and in the coconut industry… all of that has been destroyed, so we need help because my people here have lost their livelihoods, we need help for house repairs, and alternative livelihoods) appeal by Dinalungan Municipal Mayor Manuel Torres.
From Dipaculao, the RMN Foundation reached the next town of Dinalungan in about two (2) hours. In aid, the RMN Foundation in partnership with the Metrobank Foundation conducted Oplan Tabang relief operations on November 23 in the following affected areas:
- Barangay Ditawini, Dinalungan, Aurora
- Barangay Lipit, Dipaculao, Aurora
Aside from Aurora, Oplan Tabang relief operations were also conducted on November 22-23 with RMN 98.5 iFM Cauayan to families that were flooded due to the typhoon in:
- Barangay Carabatan Bacareno, Cauayan City, Isabela
- Barangay Catalina, Cauayan City, Isabela
Up to one thousand four hundred (1,400) families from the provinces of Aurora and Isabela received food packs containing rice, canned goods, coffee, and biscuits.
Dipaculao Municipal Mayor Danilo Tolentino is very grateful to the RMN Foundation and the Metrobank Foundation for their help for his residents affected by the typhoon.
The RMN Foundation also thanks RMN iFM Cauayan, Metrobank Foundation, and Green Mustard for successfully delivering aid to the affected communities in Aurora and Isabela.
